Virus Free DL

We'll continue with the theme of protecting your valuable computer. Yeah, it's dorky, nerdy, and it appears comical in the eyes of others, but what else do you expect from qball.org? This week's DL is a free anti-virus tool.

That's right readers, AVG Anti-Virus is a free DL that gives you a full anti-virus checker. Unlike the popular products like McAfee Security and Symantec's Anti-Virus are readily available to check and clean up your computer. However, you want to keep the product up-to-date without having to check their websites for new viruses attacking the world, you have put up a monthly or yearly subscription. I am well aware that all of qball.org readers are not fans of the monthly "online" services out there. That is why AVG's Anti-Virus tool is perfect. The only restrictions placed on the FREE edition of AVG are the lack of ability to you create custom tests as well as use advanced scheduling. But, the basic use of any virus checker is there. It scans programs when you use them, it checks incoming email, and even has a daily virus check that you can run in the middle of the night. (when most of my readers are asleep).

The best feature in AVG is the automated updates. It will keep your anti-virus scanner up-to-date with the latest virus information so you don't "accidentally" open that email from a buddy you haven't heard from in 20 years, and he wants you to open this neat attachment you "have to check out." (Nerdy humor) Now protect your computer before you infect the wonderful site of qball.org
