It looks like with all the madness of worms, spiders, and werewolves going around the internet, we all need to be careful. Thankfully, this week's DL is capable of at least making you and your computer aware of how susceptible you are to hacks, intrusion, and any other security breach that can be done on the internet.

Of course, this DL assumes you are using Microsoft Windows (I know, I know, assuming makes an ass out of something or other). But the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer is a nice tool to quickly run to get an idea of your computer's security level. Simply DL the analyzer, install and run. After a few options of what to scan, and scanning what is chosen, a basic but detailed report shows what might be available to attack on your system.

The feature which is a surprise in this Microsoft DL is that it tells you not only what is wrong (normal) but the best steps to fix this security hole (not normal). The results are broken down into categories and the details either show what needs to be DL'd to fix, or what steps need to be done to strengthen the security. Sometimes the details are vague, but they get you pointed in the correct direction. The only other complaint I have is the limit of Microsoft products. Granted, these are the most security flawed products out there, but it would be nice to scan other possible breaches. Overall, this DL gets a rating of...nothing. I have never given a rating before on a DL, why start now?
